Northeast Washington legislators open district office in Tonasket
Representatives from Northeast Washington’s 7th Legislative District are opening a district office in Tonasket later this month. Reps. Hunter Abell, R-Inchelium, and Andrew Engell, R-Colville, announced the move today in a continuing effort to serve constituents of the state’s largest legislative district.
“Having a brick-and-mortar office will give us a local presence and remind folks we are here to serve them. We may work in Olympia a few months each year, but we live, work, and raise our families right here in the 7th District,” said Abell.
“Our district is as far away from Olympia as you can get and still be in Washington state. With the many challenges we are facing locally and on a statewide level, face-to-face time with those we serve is a crucial part of this job. It will be nice to have a dedicated space where we can meet with constituents and hear their concerns,” said Engell.
The legislators’ district office is located at 215 N. Whitcomb Ave in Tonasket and will officially open on Tuesday, November 25. Both representatives will be in the new office from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on the day of the grand opening and invite residents to drop by for a visit.
After the grand opening, the office will be open and staffed Monday through Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The office will be closed the first two months of the new year for the 2026 legislative session when both lawmakers will be in Olympia. However, they plan on reopening it once the session concludes in mid-March, 2026.
