Engell discusses rural health care, consumer protection, and budget outlook on Spokane Public Radio
Rep. Andrew Engell spoke with Doug Nadvornick on Spokane Public Radio about legislation he says is aimed at solving practical problems facing Eastern Washington residents.
Engell highlighted two bipartisan bills that recently passed the House unanimously. One addresses defective license plates by ensuring drivers are not charged to replace plates that fail prematurely. The second protects access to diagnostic imaging in rural communities by clarifying supervision rules for physician assistants and nurse practitioners, helping hospitals maintain services and reduce delays in care.
He also discussed Republican efforts to advance child-protection proposals, concerns about affordability and potential tax increases, and the state’s improving revenue forecast. Engell said the updated forecast underscores the need for responsible budgeting rather than new taxes as lawmakers prepare to release supplemental budget proposals in the coming days.
